About the event
Endometriosis is a chronic and often misunderstood condition that disproportionately affects Black women, yet many remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years. Endometriosis & Us: Understanding, Healing, and Expressing Through Art is an interactive workshop designed to educate, empower, and provide a creative space for Black women and girls (ages 13+) to explore their experiences with menstrual and reproductive health.
Through a blend of evidence-based discussion, community dialogue, and integrated arts—including poetry, movement, and visual expression—participants will gain a deeper understanding of endometriosis, its symptoms, and its impact on mental and physical well-being. This workshop will also equip attendees with tools for self-advocacy in healthcare spaces while fostering a supportive community for shared healing.
By centering the voices and experiences of Black women, this session affirms that pain is real, healing is possible, and artistic expression is a powerful tool for reclaiming agency over one’s body.
